There are women who swear by the creed that a good man is hard to find. But in reality, some women just want a man, while other women are in search of a good man. The difference can usually be determined by life experience. Women who have gone through a few things in past relationships have a better idea of what they are looking for in the future. Still, the qualities that distinguish one good man from another will differ from woman to woman.

How can a woman find a good man when they seem to be in such short supply? Well, one could start by not looking in the same old places. If you keep going back to the same old well and getting dirty water, then it's time to find a new well. Too often, women find themselves looking for love in all the wrong places, but rarely seek out new places to explore. The first key to finding a good man who's right for you is to start looking at where the good men are.

Contrary to popular belief, good men are not difficult to find. They are out there. But one does not find a rare diamond by simply tripping over it. First, you have to know what you're looking for. Too often, women associate the concept of a good man with just the term, "good man", without having a defined idea of what they are looking for. If a woman wants a man who is well educated, well spoken, well built, and well dressed, then it defeats her purpose to seek him out grunge bar.

A woman has a better chance finding a good man by putting the odds in her favor. Becoming involved in activities that best match her own interests puts her in a better position to meet men with similar interests. It's much easier to find a man who shares your passion for hiking and biking in groups which promote and specialize in such activities. If you're looking for a great dancer, join a ballroom dancing class.

Also, take the time to observe the personality of a man from afar. The way he acts around, and reacts to other people, will be a good determination of how he is as a person. Observe the way that he carries himself, how he speaks, and how he interacts with those around him. How does he treat other women? Does he laugh a lot? Is he engaging? Are his interactions with others forced, or effortless? Are his mannerisms more like a gentleman, or a thug?

It is much easier to find what you're looking for in a man, when you know what you're looking for in a man. But, it's also important not to compromise on important qualities. If you know you'll be happy with a man who doesn't smoke, but settle for a man who does, sooner or later, one of you may end up miserable. And that certainly defeats the entire purpose. People are much happier in a relationship environment where both individuals share the same interests.

Some women depend on the suggestions of friends in deciding whether a man is good. Sure, a man recommended by a friend could very well be a good person, but is he the right person for you? We're not talking about hair styles or shoes here. Remember, it's you who has to share experiences with this person. The most important aspect of finding a good man, is in determining whether a good man is the right man for you.
