Do you want to develop some daily habits that will help to keep your life in balance? Developing some daily habits that are not too involved can be a way of keeping your life in balance. It's best not to choose things that are difficult to do or you will avoid doing them and they will cease being a habit.
Some things are so easy but will do you the world of good. When you get up, drink a glass of water before you start on the coffee. When you get out of bed, have a stretch.
Put a motivational poster on the back of the toilet door, when we visit this room, there is always time for contemplation, it might as well be on a positive note.
Before eating breakfast, do 10 or 15 minutes gentle exercise. This will not only get your body ready for the day, but will help the bloodflow to the brain and therefore you will be more ready for the days challenges. Perhaps a yoga form such as a salute to the sun will take you to a positive day.
Make sure you eat a breakfast, perhaps some fruit and cereal. It is very important that you feed the body and mind at the start of the day.
During the day, at work or at home, take some breaks. Even 5 minutes reflection will help calm you and will make you more efficient whatever you are doing. If you can go outside to take your break, especially if it's a sunny day, you will feel better. Many Management training courses advocate such reflection as it is a beneficial practice.
If you spend a lot of your day sitting, at a desk for instance, get up and move around every now and then, again, it will promote blood flow and make you feel more alert and happier.
Drink plenty of water during the day, dehydration can sneak up on you and make you feel tired and listless.
Be positive. This always makes you feel better. If someone asks you how you are, always say 'Great'! If you say it, you will feel it.
Its a good idea to 'graze' through the day, eating healthy snacks as opposed to a heavy lunch. Fruit, nuts, and dried fruit can all taste nice and perhaps help you to your five a day.
When it's time, have a nice supper, don't rush it and remember, at some time during the day, give yourself a nice treat, we all like rewards.
None of the above are hard to do, but such a small routine will become habit over time, and your body and mind will reap the rewards. However do not make these habits into rules or a fixation or stress can come from not doing some of these things. Balance comes from even distribution which means healthy and good can have some fun thrown in as well.
