Poetry: Winter

by Carrie May

Created on: April 10, 2009

The smell of winter in the air,

Cold breath showing as I exhale.

Nights below 0,

The branches bare.

The first signs of winter,

Fall from the sky.

The silence of winter here,

As I can almost hear the snow fall,

Softly to the ground.

The ice tapping on my window,

As tree branches crackle and boughs break

The cold night wanting in,

An extra blanket added on this lonely bed.

Wanting nothing more,

Then to just cover my head.

No need to leave this silent room.

Winter surrounds me,

But where are you.
