Falling in love with a married man is way up there in the list of most self-destructive things a woman can do. I started down this shadowy lane at the ripe age of 21. I was a private in the good old US Army and in the best physical condition of my life. I was also just welcoming in my very own womanly body. My hormones were on overdrive. I still believed in love at first sight and that love conquers all when I saw him.
It was during my first PT (physical training) with my new unit. We were all there to train to become Combat Medics. Our new Drill Sergeants were making us do every excercise in the book in the hot, muggy Texas night. All I could pay attention to was this man. Dusty brown hair, barrel chested, lips like a bow with the most mischievous smirk across them. He was drinking me in from head to toe with his dark, dreamy brown eyes. I absolutely could not tear my gaze away. This is what love at first sight felt like. Wow! This was really happening. Sparks as large as bolts of lightning were flying between me and this man I'd never seen before in my life. Right then and there I knew we were meant to be together.
I managed to line up in his row at formation so that he became my squad leader. Yes, he outranked me. But his Specialist to my Private made him all the more alluring. By the way, I did check his fingers for signs of a ring. There were none. No ring. No tan line. I was going to marry this man! During the medic training we were in, we were no allowed to go "out" on the weekends at first. I think it was the first four weeks. I think we would've slept together the first weekend after seeing eachother if we could have, but being forced to wait a whole month just fueled the fire. We sat next to eachother in class. We were partners whenever a partner was required. We "palpated" each other, gave each other IVs and shots. We ran together. We smoked together (I actually had to start smoking so that would be possible). And once we got the go ahead to leave post on the weekend...we rented a hotel room together.
The heat between us that first night together was incredible. I hadn't a clue how sexy it was possible to feel. He made these groaning sounds like an animal who sees something delicious to eat. He tossed me across beds, pressed me against walls, slid me around in the shower, and swam all over me in the pool. It must have been disgusting for our poor friends. But to us...heaven. I proceeded to fall completely, unequivocaly, head over heels in love. There
