The Historical Museum of Southern Florida was established in order to house artifacts and art from South Florida and the Caribbean. From displays of Native American objects to exhibits surrounding the vibrant cultures of Cuba, Haiti, and surrounding islands, this is a wonderful museum with a lot of local flavor. Open from Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm, the museum features extended hours (until 9pm) on every third Thursday each month. The museum is also open on Sundays from noon to 5pm. Keep in mind that the HMSF does close on certain holidays, so be sure to check the website before you schedule your visit. Admission is free for members but tickets for non-member adults are just $8. Senior citizens and students with IDs are admitted for $7, kids ages 6-12 are $5, and kids under 6 are free.

Located on the beautiful campus of the University of Miami, the Lowe Art Museum frequently exhibits wonderful art collections from around the world in a variety of mediums. However, the Lowe's Native American art displays are often heralded as some of the most comprehensive and outstanding collections in the United States. When planning your visit, keep in mind that the museum is closed on Mondays. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, the venue is open from 10am to 5pm. On Thursdays the museum is open from 12pm to 7pm, and on Sundays from 12pm to 5pm. Adults are admitted for just $10, children under the age of 10 are admitted for $3, and students and senior citizens can receive a discounted ticket at $4. Also, the museum is free to members, University of Miami students, faculty, and staff. Check the website prior to your visit
