Is life worth living?

material gluttony during the last 20 years are bringing out both the best and the worse in folks as they go about restructuring and streamlining their lives. We are seeing the worse and the extremes with the murder-suicides. It brings no one pleasure seeing these killings as they serve as a vehicle that allows everyone to see just how far off course many became during that "anything goes" period.

Hopefully, there will come a time when individuals will be motivated by internal motivators. The problem with having only external motivators is that once things fall apart, as they often do, there is nothing on the inside on which to rely. If goals and desires originate from within, there will be workable alternatives. For examples, Benjamin Franklin had over 2,000 failures before he had a success. He pursued his dreams and was not deterred when he failed, because the seeds of his dreams were germinated from within and not from what his contemporaries were doing or thinking.

We can only hope and pray that as the economy continues righting itself, we will all see fewer headlines of suicide-murders. We can only hope and pray for those families who have invested their entire existence on how others perceive them will find their moral center and start believing the things over which they are killing themselves and their families are secular and mundane. God will replace possessions as He did for Job in the book of Job in the Bible, children will not be replaced. Moreover, no one has the right to take his or her or anyone else's life.

Everyone should treat life as the precious gift it. There may come a time when you need to become your brother's keeper and remind him or her how precious life really is. Remind them that any problems they are having here on earth are temporary, but death as mortals know it is forever. You should remind them of that fact and then proceed to help them in any manner you can.
