Today's military is not much different from that of which gave us the freedom that we so cherish today. Or do we? It seems to me that a majority of Americans do not appreciate what it means to be free. "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" as stated in the United States Declaration of Independence is a right granted upon us by our forefathers. Yet, the idea of joining the military and serving this nation remains foreign to an overwhelming large population of people in this country. It's an inherent right to serve, a calling of duty, and a necessity to maintain our way of life.
Benefits of serving
Patriotism aside, there is an array of benefits for joining the military. Beyond boot camp, the military provides professional grade training in your field of choice. Equipment operators, intelligence analyst and helicopter pilots are just some potential career fields available, but there are still many more other options to choose from. If higher education is what you desire, then the military is once again an excellent place to start. Besides free tuition assistance while serving, the military will pay for college once your service time is up. Combined with other college fund programs, the military can make your education goals a reality. On top of a free pass through college, schooling provided by the military can potentially count towards civilian courses. The time spent you spent learning how to do your job is now transferring over to your degree program.
Travel the World
Ever dream of traveling the world? The ability to travel to different and exotic locations is a great benefit of joining the military. The United States has military installations in 20 different countries, giving service members a first hand account of different cultures and ways of life. Otherwise out of bound experiences are just around the corner, all on the dime of the United States military. I highly doubt any other job can offer the same.
Make a difference
On the outside, the Military may seems overly physical and uninviting. If you, however, choose to test yourself and make the commitment to serve, you will continuously be awarded by your new profession. The pride that comes with serving is beyond verbal description. Standing by the side of your brothers in arms, with other service members who are willing face the enemies at the gate in defense of a greater cause. Join the thousands of others fighting to protect freedom, our way of life, and global security. Join the military and make a difference.
