Puddles

When I was a little girl I feared the awful storms.
They always brought the thunder and then the rain would pour.
Daddy would hold me close and tell me not to fear,
"Cause rain brings the puddles, and you know how fun they are."

I got my first bike and was afraid that I would fall.
But Daddy told me that I had nothing to fear at all.
"Whenever you're afraid and don't want to try again,
Remember the puddles that come after the rain."

When I had my first recital, I was scared to face the crowd.
Daddy gently took my hand and said he was so proud.
"Remember what I told you, that storm clouds pass away;
Just remember the puddles on a bright sunny day."

I was headed off to college and packed my old Chevrolet.
Dad's eyes filled up with tears, knowing that I was going away.
I said, "Dad, I'm gonna a miss you," as I loaded up the car;
"But remember, rain brings the puddles, and you know how fun they are."
