Why America is worried about China

China, China, China.......! Why just America, the whole world is closely observing China, and why not? Has their economy not progressed by leaps and bounds? Their dominance is emerging not just in economy, but also in technology, advanced weapon systems and sports as well. Wherever they set foot, they just succeed. Whether we like it or not, China is well on its way to becoming the next Super Power, and nobody's got any idea how to stop that from happening.

But, the question is "If someone is progressing or developing very fast, is this something to really worry about?" Well, if the apprehension is that once China achieves the Super Power status, and then they start dominating the entire world for their selfish desires, only then we should be worried, else it is perfectly OK for China to progress.

The world has acknowledged that the US has been (and still is) the foremost Super Power. At times there have been accusations on various issues (I would not prefer to go into details in an open forum like this one) that the US has misused their status for their gains only, by trampling over weaker nations. However, at least I believe that the US has largely tried to be quite a responsible Super Power nation. Agreed that they must have made some mistakes, but then we all do. I am sure the US will try its best not to repeat those mistakes. Now, for those people who agree with me that the US is an overall responsible nation, please note that the US is inhabited only by about 5% of the world's population. If the US wants to maintain its Super Power status in the long run, it has to show responsibility towards the balance 95% of people. But China......is inhabited by 20% of the world's population....! Well, is the above apprehension just getting a little stronger?

OK, now whether or not this apprehension turns out to be true, time will only answer. But, for now, what does the US do? I guess it first needs a population base to match China's. Reason being that Chinese economy booms because of its huge demand potential. There is no way the US can match that. Besides, US economy is already shaky. It is going to be extremely difficult (of course, not impossible) to sustain it at its current level, leave alone improving upon it. If the US cannot compete with China in economic progress, then how can it generate funds in future for matching China in advanced weapon systems? So, how does the US suddenly manage a massive population base to match China's? It needs a partner, but who?
