For years I have kept a journal beside my bed, so that I could remember and interpret my dreams later in the day. I didn't think about dreaming before I went to sleep, so whether I did or not was a bit of a hit and miss affair. However that has all now changed.
A DREAM BOX
A year ago my mother gave me a gift called a Dream Box. This has been created by Brenda Mallon the psychotherapist and former Director of the International Association for the Study of Dreams. She has studied dreams and dreaming for over twenty years. See http://www.apaintingartist.com/blog.
This tool enables you not only to remember and interpret your dreams, but to use your dreams as a healing tool to solve problems and maximize your potential.
At first I was sceptical about whether this would work, not quite believing that I could direct my own dreams - surely they were random? Sometimes if I was very tired I noticed I couldn't remember my dreams, I would just sleep very heavily and wake up feeling groggy. When I started using the Dream Box, I began to develop a two-way conversation with my sub-conscious, and after a short time of using the Dream Box, I noticed I was confidently leaving my dream requests under my pillow knowing I would wake up with an answer. I looked forward to going to sleep.
WHAT IS INSIDE THE DREAM BOX?
Inside the Dream Box are four items:
Dreamcatcher to hang over your bed to gather your dreams.
Dream Wish Cards to place under your pillow to nurture dreams.
A Dream Diary Template to record and analyse your dreams.
A 304 page book explaining how dreams work and how to use them.
HOW DO YOU USE THE DREAM BOX?
I hung the Dreamcatcher above my bed, and each night I chose one of the Dream Wish Cards and put this under my pillow. Some of these cards are printed with requests and some are blank for you to fill in your own request. Some of the printed requests are:
Send me a dream to improve my ability to learn.
Send me a dream to help me feel more peaceful.
Send me a dream to ease the pain of my loss.
Send me a dream to show me how to improve my relationship.
Some of my dream requests were even more specific:
Send me a dream to reveal my deepest purpose and why'
Send me a dream which reveals the people and organisations I am to work with now
Send me a dream revealing my book's flow and structure.
Having the blank cards means I can choose my own dream requests which is very useful.
