Parents, we had our kids and it is our responsibility to set them on a course to become responsible members of society. We've all see it in the supermarkets, the parent who has lost control to a child throwing a complete embarrassment of a fit. The family and/or parents have the first 4 to five years at home to instill some sort of values and discipline in their children. Once a child enters school and can be in society supervised by another adult, the parents then must understand that their child is in a system built on rules that when broken, will have a consequence to it.
In schools, we see detention, suspension, even expulsion and rightfully so. The schools are set up to provide a safe and educating atmosphere for pupils to be in. When a child who was allowed to run over their parents comes into this system and doesn't know how to act, they deserve what they receive. Now the true sting of any punishment as a child is how the punishment is received in the home. Some parents are making no time or attempts to correct this behavior for a number of reasons, stemming from single parents working multiple jobs who are simply unaware, to the parents who have "exhausted" themselves and are waiting it out. In either case, again, the ultimate responsibility is on the parent.
Jail, the final frontier. This is really when a lifetime of bad behavior and choices come to fruition. Tax evasion, parking tickets, assault, murder; all ways and degrees of crimes that can and often will have you removed from society. Sadly enough, the lesson isn't often enough being taught to the criminal, but to a child they've left this impression with, thus in some cases of all walks of life, for any number of reasons and actions, completing the cycle.
We, as parents, have first crack at getting the solid foundation set, but when that fails, society has laws to protect the rest of our children who don't deserve to be victims.
Bottom line, get it right, or the system might.
