The feathery quill of the Prophet Isaiah recorded "Have you not known? Have you not heard The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary. And the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40"27-31).
The prophet bluntly asks, "have you not known?" God has plainly revealed so much about His goodness to us in His Word. We so greatly need such a Divine question to get our attention to focus on our real needs and in turn to see His great and mighty fullness to assist us in our daily lives, so we can soar and be free.
Isaiah's wants us to see our need of power. The Lord gives power to the fainthearted. The Lord speaks of power because He knows that we need it. It is because of the lack of power in our lives that we faint; we have no might, and we are weary and the young men utterly fall.
Isaiah also wants us to come to the Source of the Power, which is God the Holy Spirit. In Isaiah 40:28 we read "Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting .God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth neither faints nor is weary. , His understanding is unsearchable." Acts 1:8 says "Be You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit is come upon you and you shall be witnesses unto me against that day." The Lord wants us to wait on Him regularly .When we wait we will be renewed. We will be empowered afresh by the creative and sustaining power of God. As I surrender to Him, He comes and dwells in me with all of His fullness. I will be filled up with all the fullness of God. I will have energy for living, and my fainting heart will be restored. Thank you Jesus. Praise God.
As we tarry and wait for the Lord He comes and shows us the nature of His power. This power is not something we put on, but rather it is something that is put on us. It is a source of power that that brings increased capacity and responsibilities. To have more of His Life manifested in my life is to know more of His power in my life. The chorus writer back in my teen years put it
"The more to Jesus I surrender,
The more of His fullness I know,
I can not out give Him for He gave His all,
How can I do less than answer the call?
The more I
