I don't think money is really linked to depression itself, I think it's more of the fact that money allows for more freedom. The more money you have the more resources and outlets you have and the more you are able to do. We all have hopes and dreams and most of the time those hopes and dreams require money. Suppose you always dreamed of traveling the world? That takes money and suppose that amount of money never comes? That leads to depression because you had a dream and you were greatly disappointed not because you have no money but because you don't have the resources (money) to do such a thing.

I've read many of the entries and I do agree that being a billionaire makes things way too simple. There should be struggle in life, there should always be struggle, because without struggle the easy times would not be enjoyed. The question is how much struggle is to much? Me personally if I had a dream I would not mind struggling for two or maybe three years to achieve it, but if five years has passed and I had made no progress I would become depressed.

And then there is also the matter of how hard the struggle is. Suppose you have someone who wants to visit family on the other side of the country and you have five hundred dollars left after paying your bills? You can save that five hundred and upon next check you could save another five hundred and have a thousand to go on. But suppose you have a person who only has twenty dollars and a very poor paying job with little hours? They would try to save that twenty, but of course when they ran out of spendable money for things they need on a daily basis they would use that twenty and it would be a constant cycle, try to save and end up having to dig into it for needs rather than wants.

Honestly I think being rich and being poor sucks, I think the best way to be is to be middle class. You have money but not too much and not too little. You still have to struggle sometimes but it's not completely impossible and your able to save where as it's ten times harder for poor people to save. And not only that, but what gets worse is that prices are going up sky high and now not only can the financially limited do things they want to do they can't even keep the small things they enjoy. Like cigarettes, now I will tell you I am financially limited, I get my food stamps and I live in a project and one thing I enjoy is my cigarettes as they keep me from going insane. But guess what? That's being taken away to because the cigarette prices are going so outrageously high and let's not kid ourselves, quitting is not easy. Many will be angry, irritable and even depressed. I've tried to quit in the past and I cried.

Let's also look at another direction. Okay, so you're a poor person and have no money to go out, so what do you do? You sit at home and when at home you have to have something to do right? Watch TV, maybe get online or talk on the phone. But what happens when even doing that is getting out of reach due to the rising prices? Poor people are having everything cut off, they cant go out, cant have anything at home and with the economy they cant get a job and what does that result in? People sitting at home with no television, no phone, no internet and no money to go out and so their only option is to stare at the wall and cry. So yes, since money has such a big influence over life itself, I will say money is invariable linked with depression.
