It is very difficult to stay objective when comparing two football teams. Every writer or commentator has its preferences and intentionally or not they are subjective. When comparing any two things, we need to recognize the base on comparison. Manchester United and Liverpool are two of the biggest, if not The biggest teams in England. Both teams have memorable history and unforgettable games. But again we need to compare them either on wined trophies ,history, or best player
Let's start with trophies. Liverpool has 18 English premiership and five UEFA Champions League titles. After the arriving of Rafael Benitez, their current head-coach, the team has won one European title and one International Cup. This year Liverpool is the main rival of Manchester United for the Premiership title. The last time Liverpool won it was in the late 1989, for than 20 years ago. Probably every football fan remembers the astonishing final for the UEFA Champions League against AC Milan in 2005, Istanbul. Then Liverpool won the title after scoring three goals in eight minutes, and after losing 3-0 at the half time. That was the most remarkable moment in Liverpool recent history. Other then that the Merseyside club has not any trophies in the last 20 years. I don't want to go back five or six decades ago when Liverpool was dominating Europe because i think it is not relevant to the topic.
Liverpool's best players today are not many. Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres are probably the only two players who deserve to be mentioned. The rest of the team is composed of many spanians and middle-class players who were bought just to cover the wholes in the team. In recent years Liverpool spent millions on new players but only couple of them justified the money.
Now let's look at one of the most popular, richest and strongest team in football history. As i said it's hard to write about a team, which is your favorite and be objective. This is why i am just presenting the facts and letting you to decide who is the team that deserves more admiration. Manchester United won the England Premiership title ten times in the last 19 seasons. Apart of that they won the UEFA Champions League title twice in 1999 and 2008. They were the winners of FA Cup five times since 1990 and won three League Cups as well. In their museum we can see also one UEFA Cup Winner's Cup trophy and two Intercontinental Cups. Manchester United have eight Community Shield cups since 1990 and made a treble in 1999, winning the FA
