PLASTIC BAGS
Plastic bags, plastic bags, what a poetic thought!
Plastic bags hold everything that is bought.
Celery, onions, lettuce, cans, fruit and more.
By the hordes we trek them home from the store.
Some people don't bother and throw them all away,
Others poke them in drawers for a rainy day.
As a matter of fact they're a rain cap in a pinch,
And used as a cover to protect shoes, that's a cinch.
Plastic bags often do lead a double life,
But clinging to the tees causes lots of strife.
Blowing across the landscape to line up on our lawn,
That is when we wish all plastic bags were gone.
For multiple uses, the plastic bag is queen,
And we'd pay a pretty penny if only she was green.
Plastic bags and dirty diapers, go hand in hand,
If you are a mother, you will surely understand.
The local food bank uses them by the score,
Take an armload down there, you can help the poor.
Keep them from children, like a deadly snake.
They've taken the breath from many, make no mistake.
A plastic bag, some scissors, glue, sticks and string,
You can build a kite, just as quick as anything.
Plastic bags are poked to fill up cracks in winter.
Plastic bags can be our friend, we thank the inventor.
From goods, to garbage, from landfills and in trees,
Plastic bags are here to stay as long as they please.
Use them, reuse them, then reuse them again,
Till another inventor comes along, and.... bless-ed be that man!

Paper or plastic? Is the question at my local grocery store
Do I want to save some trees or do I want potatoes rolling out
Plastic bags, plastic bags, they are everywhere.
We throw them, we burn them and they pollute the air.

Hey plastic bags
Once an international star
Now the Oscars
Are dropping
Let us hope
A new role
Is found for you
So that you
Can
Made in 1997,
I was boxed
and sent with thousands of others
to the grocery store.
Sitting on the end of the checkstand
