care provider or your credit card company. Do your personal business on your personal time. No matter what is going on outside of work, it should not be affecting your work life. If it does, trouble will follow.
Gossiping
Talking about other people at work is never a good idea. Try to keep a professional attitude and stay out of work politics. It may not seem possible but it is and if you are unresponsive to people who do gossip they will eventually leave you alone. Unless you are planning to spend your entire career at your current job, you don't need to try to make friends, you want to do your job, be paid, acquire some experience and move on.
Dating someone at work
While dating usually is not the biggest problem, breakups are. Many offices have a no dating policy and certainly many employers don't allow family members or spouses to work together. This really goes back to number eight because when your significant other works with you any issues that you have at home will come to work with you.
Badmouthing your employer
Even if you have the worst boss in the world and work for the lousiest company in the world, if you want to stay in their employee then you had better keep your opinions about them to yourself. Currently there are many people unemployed and looking for work, you do not want to give your employer any reason to let you go. Insubordination is grounds for instant dismissal so when they say jump, you just may want to say "how high".
Most good employees will never have to worry about these ten reasons because they would not think of doing them. If however, you are one of the ones who are guilty, be careful because trouble is coming your way.
