How the media distorts the perception of beauty

It's a well known fact that people all around the world are trying very hard to lose weight. There are a number of different diets, no one really knows which one to choose.

Below are the questions everyone needs to ask themselves:

1. Am I overweight?
2. How much am I suppose to weigh?
3. How much weight do I need to lose?
4. What are some healthy transitions that I can make to lose weight?

Now based on this there shouldn't be any problems. Some people love to drink pop, try not to drink so much. Many people enjoy take out, only have it once in a while and try to pick something healthy. Others enjoy candy and chocolate, try not to eat as much of it and if you love chocolate, try and stick to dark because it's good for you. These are all transitions. Instead of snacking out on junk food, try out different fruits and even vegetables like carrots or celery.
You get the point and don't forget plenty of exercise. You don't have to join a gym. Go for a walk everyday. During summer make time to go to the pool, bike riding or roller blading. During winter, grab that pair of skates that have been sitting in the attic collecting dust and go for a skate, plus it's fun! Go sledding or even a brisk walk. These are all things that get you exercising and it's probably alot more fun then working out in a gym, hoping to become that girl or guy working out next to you. Come on, be a kid again!

Everyone knows that this shouldn't be that hard, of course this is to be healthy and get to the right body weight for your own size.

This is where society gets into trouble. Reading magazines, watching television, movies, interviews, etc... everyone wants to be like Mike. Actually that wouldn't be a bad thing, because he's strong, tough & healthy. People want to be like skinny actors and actresses. It is mostly the female actresses right now that are on a roll to, well turning into nothing and extremely bad health.

Point is we as human beings, famous or not need to love ourselves for who we are and not what we look like. Being healthy is a positive thing, being skinny is not a goal that people should have. Pictures in magazines, etc... have been edited to the point that it's not really what people look like. Even in person celebrities have makeup on to make them look even more beautiful, they have people doing their hair and the have clothing designers designing clothes for them. Most are not going to wear a dress or suit that makes them look fat. Below are sites that will show you what editing can do and I hope that this helps everyone realize how beautiful you truly are without anything done.

1. http://homepage.mac.com/gapodaca/digital/bikini/
In this site you can roll your mouse over each pic to see true beauty.

2. http://www.digitalpablo.com/portfolio.html
Same thing, retouches done to enhance the look of each photo.

3. http://www.digitalretouch.net/online/main.html
Differ ent things to check out about retouching, from shaping to manipulation.

4. http://www.worth1000.com/cache/contest/contestcache. asp?contest_id=7923&start=1&end=10&display=photoshop
This site shows celebrities touched up so much they can look awful and disgusting. So imagine what positive touch ups can truly do.

I hope these sites show you what true beauty is and if you still want to lose weight go for it, but for the weight that is right for you, not someone else. Good Luck and be healthy!
