Left broken and bleeding...alone in the dark,
A heart barely beating...pale, weak and stark.
Fragile and seeming beyond all repair,
Oh please be gentle and handle with care.
Afraid of the future, due to past wrongs...

Nourishing hungers, giving safe sleep.
Slowly warmth comes to that which was once cold,
Scars form to cover wounds healed of old.
A heart finally beats strong once again,
Barely remembering a time long ago when.
You lifted it gently to handle with care,
Now love and light have replaced dark despair
