Poetry: Anything is possible

by Bambi Watson

Created on: April 08, 2009

There was an explosion...my husband was burned...

Now 7 years later...here are the lessons we've learned.

Anything is possible...If you hold on to hope...

Never give up and don't let yourself mope.

It took 14 surgeries to graft on new skin...

But we never gave up...we never gave in.

They amputated all his fingers and both of his thumbs now gone...

But he kept on fighting...though the odds seemed so long.

Relearning to walk...seemed like so much work...

Only in shadows, did any doubt lurk.

Endless hours of therapy...indescribable pain...

2 steps backwards for each one he'd gain.

Anything is possible...he'd say with a grin...

Our old life was over...a new life to begin.

It took almost 2 years for him to learn once more...

To do all the things he took for granted before.

Tying shoes without fingers can be quite a task...

Completely determined...no help would he ask.

Today fully healed...our tears now long dry...

Anything is possible...as long as you try
