Before one can search for truth in the Bible you must first comprehend what "truth" is. So ...what is it?
If two people are standing outside and one declares it as hot and one declares it as cold. Which is true? Actually, both are true. One is cold and one is hot. Even thought they contradict each other ...both are absolutely true.
If I describe a car from the topside looking down and you describe the same car from the bottom looking up then our descriptions will not agree. Which is true? Both are true even though they do not agree.
Searching for truth is a most interesting endeavor. Truths start with what you have faith in and believe and feel about a matter. Any belief system exhibits the identical process. This is what all religions do ...no exceptions.
1. Instruct you on what you should believe
2. Teach you how to have faith in these beliefs
3. Bring you to a state of "knowing their advocated "truths"
Do you really believe that a suicide bomber is any less convinced of his truth than you? Think again!
But here is the key to understanding the truth about God whether you search in the Bible, the Koran or the Talmud. Regardless of which religion you choose or which book you read, once you fully commit to their teachings about the matter then you begin to experience that truth. It then becomes you. Experience is the most powerful teacher. Experience is personal and can not be taught. If you don't believe this then try to teach someone that has never had an orgasm what an orgasm is. Can't can you? I have met hundreds of spiritual leaders of many different faiths. All have testimonies of their personal experiences of God in their lives. To each of them this experience is true ...undeniable truth! Could it be the truth about God is he enables all things regardless of what religion you choose?
When you fully synchronize your being, that is, what you feel, think and be, then you are a very powerful creator of reality ...God powerful! It literally galvanizes your existence this way or that. When you look for truth (anywhere) you then search for those things which validate your belief and disregard those which do not. This is just as true for a Muslim as a Christian. Do you really believe that a Jew or a Muslim has never experienced the power fo God in their life? Just like you, once expereinced, they know they are right. It is their truth. Could the common denominator be God enabling them all?
Might I suggest a simple litmus test to use as navigational criteria as you read and search for your truth. When you think you have found a "truth" then ask what demeanor this ascribes to the God you believe in. By way of example, if you believe that abortion is a sin then what is it you assume God does with this baby's soul? Send it to hell? Well what demeanor of God would this be? Or do you assume that God takes the young soul back to heaven? Well, if this is the system God set up for our lives here then the best way to get to heaven is to die in an abortion. You assume God's plan to be one where living your life is a worse than dieing from abortion. Think about it!
