Politicians and heads of state have been meeting regularly to find a working solution to the problems of climate change. Authorities associated with this matter know full well that if surface temperatures continue to rise, extreme climate change will be unavoidable.
Sea ice is thinning at an alarming rate. As the sun's rays penetrate these thin layers of ice the oceans continue to heat which causes unusual weather patterns. Without this ice cover, less sunlight will be reflected which contributes to global heating. These are well known facts.
According to Julienne Stroeve, from the US National Snow and Ice Data Center, "The sea ice is entering a new state where the ice cover has become so thin that no matter what happens during the summer in terms of temperature or circulation patterns, you're still going to have very low ice conditions."
It was only a few years ago when satellite-based measurements were the best evidence the scientific community had to go on since the Antarctic environment was so hostile. However, due to the rapid decline of sea ice and radical changes in weather patterns, scientists braved the frozen wilderness on foot and began drilling for ice core samples in order to better understand what was happening.
Reputable scientists have gathered unquestionable proof that Antarctic ice sheets are melting and that the threat of coastal flooding is a major issue. More than 38% of the world's population lives within 50 miles of the coast. If sea levels rise, where will all of these people go? Also, a large percent of the world’s farm land is located at low levels which would be destroyed by the encroachment of saltwater.
Global climate change has become far too political. We have a serious problem here and scientists who have no political agenda know this. Climates around the world could change drastically from what we see today which could easily result in mass migration, famine, and disease which would have an enormous effect on the global economy.
The planetary alignment which is supposed to be complete by December 21, 2012 is believed to be influencing our climate because other planets are experiencing global warming as well. If carbon emissions are causing global warming on Earth, what's causing it on other planets? Those of us who have been keeping up with the times are quite certain about what the world may be headed for.
Climate change at this point does seem unavoidable and considering its rapid progress we should prepare for stronger storms, colder winters and hotter summers. Be prepared to face all emergency situations usually associated with natural disasters and keep at least a three-day supply of food and water for each household member.
