Poetry: Wild & free

I know what you see when you see me,

A creature to keep in captivity

So, you wish to abduct me,

And hold me hostage indefinitely

You can't trap me, I'm wild and free.

Your heart is filled with hate and rage,

You plan confinement in a cage

My freedom is your outrage,

Your desire you'll not engage

You can't trap me, I'm wise with age.

You believe I don't notice you,

A prisoner of your life; it's true

Jealous that I am not like you,

Attend work; come home, as you do

You can't trap me, I'm true value.

I know you hear my morning song,

Your interpretation is so wrong

Keep me with you; there'll be no song,

Out here, I sing all year long

You can't trap me, I'm far too strong.

Please will you just leave me be,

You're a man; I'm a bird you see

Together we're not meant to be,

I'm free to fly for eternity

You can't trap me, I'm wild and free.
