I said to them, most every day
Of their young lives - "You can do it."
No matter what, and come what may,
I hoped, believed, they knew it.
That with a dream, a wish, a want,
Success was in their hands.
And always, was that bad word, "can't"
A thing unsaid, a substance banned.
They listened long and hard and turned
My words to actions clear.
They took the world and learned
The way to live bravely, without fear.
The gift I gave stayed good and true,
It sent them on their way
To see anything is possible. New
