Fire incidents are not events planned for, however fire could come up at any point and any time. It is therefore important to plan ahead for fire both at home and in an office environment.

For private and individual homes fire safety is an issue that is not being given the required attention. In fact a lot (close to 85%) of fire incidence in private home could have been prevented if proper arrangement were put in place. There is therefore a need for every parents and individual to put precaution in place that will help prevent fire out-break in their various homes.

Some fire safety tip are available which will help various home prevent fire out-break or fast spread of fire. If properly followed it is guaranteed that fire out-break will reduce by at least 45%

It is suggested that a fire extinguisher should be made available for use. This should be placed in an area were it will be conspicuous such that it is accessible to anybody close by when there is a fire incident.

It is also advisable that all flammable liquid such as methylated spirit, gasoline, Gas cylinder and other be kept away from likely source of fire. This are likely to catch fire and cause little fire to spread quickly. These should also be kept out of children reach.

Microwave ovens are also potential source of fire especially when they are not used as they ought to be use, Using micro wave oven to warm food place in any metallic object is not acceptable. The is because these metals could cause fire outbreak from the micro wave oven

Children are known to play around the house, parents should try as much as possible to keep children below seven years out of the kitchen, because there is a possibility of their tampering with cylinders and cookers. In some situation especially if save the cylinder could be placed out side the home connected to the gas cooker in through long hose. This will ensure that any fire out-break from the cylinder will only occur outside the house and not in the house.

Papers should be well handled because they are potential source of fire or fire spread. Ensure to keep paper away from potential source of electrical sparks. In fact all appliances with electrical sparks should not be used until fault have been rectified. Electrical appliances should be taken to the right technician/personnel so to prevent further damages to the equipment which is a potential source of fire out break.

When going on a long journey and you wont be around for weeks then ensure to put off all electrical appliances. This will help reduce energy consumption but above all will help prevent fire-outbreak.

Fire/smoke detector system is a good system to have in the house though it could be on the high side in terms of financial implication. This system work based on smoke detection system. This alarm system triggers off alarm in the house when smoke is detected. This alarm system will alert everybody in the house so that everyone will move to a place of safety. Sprinklers could also be used but this could be very expensive to fix or deployed in the house but for those who can avoid such cases

Personal safety is a personal issue and a prerogative of every individual, no one can keep any other person save except himself, it is therefore very important to avoid fire incident in our various homes, this will help stop the agony, loss and pains that we will go through if there are cases of fire accident.
