Keeping life balanced on a daily basis

In this fast paced and demanding world, it is often hard to imagine a life where you have enough time and energy to accomplish everything you need to do. Here are six daily habits you can develop to keep your life in balance and achieve a sense of happiness in the process.

Use Positive Self Talk

Positive self talk or daily affirmations help to create a positive frame of mind. One of the best times to make those affirmations is when you wake up after a refreshing night of sleep. There is nothing better for the spirit than starting the day with a few positive words. Before getting out of bed, state a few affirmations. Better yet, take a moment to pause in front of your bathroom mirror and tell yourself what a beautiful and balanced human being you are.

Eat a Healthy Breakfast

Grabbing that piece of dry toast as you run out the door won't provide much energy for the demands of your day. Both our bodies and our brains require fuel to keep them functioning to capacity. Take an extra ten minutes to fry up an egg to go along with that toast or eat a bowl of oatmeal with some brown sugar and fruit, and your energy level will remain higher throughout your day.

Make a List

When you decide your focus for each day it will not only help to alleviate stress but will help you to reach your goals. Take 5 minutes each morning to write a list of your tasks and then prioritize them. As you go throughout your day, make sure to cross off the things that you accomplish and remember there is always tomorrow.

Exercise

Exercise is one of the best things you can do for your overall health and well-being. Walking is one of the most beneficial and least time consuming exercises out there. Instead of sitting in the break room at work, go out and walk! You have to take a break anyways, so use that time for the benefit of your physical and mental well-being.

Take Time to Play

Don't you miss your childhood when you had plenty of time for play? Not only does play add to the happiness factor, it also helps to alleviate stress. Set aside 30 minutes each day to put together a puzzle, concentrate on an enjoyable hobby or play your favorite game. Reconnect with that inner child and watch the stress of your day melt away.

Bath Time

"Cleanliness is next to" well, we all know the saying. Make the conscious choice to soak in a nice hot bath instead of a shower when you have to attend to matters of hygiene. This can be quiet time for you. While you are basking in the silence, add a couple of aromatherapy candles and some nice soft music to the mix. Lean your head back on a bath pillow while you let your day go and smile at the thought of achieving a balanced life.
