the forlorn sailor
unperturbed by the rushing sound of the wind's pity,
a forlorn sailor shuffled amidst a languid storm,
strange shapes bellowed before his vision,
a dark complex lay shimmering in his gaze.
his skiff rocked rhythmically, not quite like a dancer,
as he stared from the gunwhales at the running sea.
his hair swept forward and his knuckles white
held fast to the creaking tiller.
yet that old head was resolute,
the tempest would surely soon end.
and he and his boat would submit to the calm
lullaby of the ocean's swell.
