OK kids, it's that time of year again. It's time to break out the Jack-o-lantern, stock up on candy corn, and watch some scary movies. OK, so Halloween's passed already. Yes, I know, it's been a looong time since I've posted anything, but I have a good reason. On July 30, my wife and I welcomed our first child, Virginia Marie into the world. So, as you can imagine, life has been a whirlwind these past three months. However, I am back and plan on posting on a more consistent basis. First, let me get you up to date. Right now I am polishing up my latest short story called, "Three Wishes". I plan on submitting it to some professionals to be critiqued, and then I will enter it into several contests. I will post it on my website as soon as it is ready for consumption.
Caught up? OK, time to get back on track. I love Halloween. I love nothing better than watching scary movies in October. This past Halloween I caught a cold and was forced to stay in bed and watch TV. Luckily, there were some good horror movies on, not to mention Bravo had their annual "Top 100 Scariest Movie Moments". So I figured I would share with you my list of top scary movies. Please be warned, I will reveal key plots to some movies, so if you want to be surprised, then don't read on.

Saw has a strong story line to it as well. It keeps you guessing til the very end, and then it punches you right in the gut. In my opinion, that is the foundation of making a good scary movie. I love a movie that leaves you sitting in your seat, breathless. One last note, the Saw series is one of the best horror franchises I have seen. Take a day off from work and watch all 4 (now 5) Saw movies in a row. It is amazing how they're all linked together.
19.The Texas Chainsaw Massacre- The original 1974 movie is a classic. It is considered one of the goriest movies of all time, even though you never see limbs hacked off or anyone disemboweled. In fact, there is very little blood in the movie. Again, it's what you don't see that makes it scary. The house itself gives me the creeps, and living in the south, you see a lot of potential leather face houses out in the middle of no where! One of the most disturbing scenes is when Leather face kills the guy in the
