Poetry: My painful past

I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU

Looking out her window one dark and rainy day
The words he spoke so long ago , she could hear him say

I will always love you, no matter what you do
No matter where you go, I'll always be with you

Now, she is alone and tears fill her eyes
Will the day ever come when she'll see sunny skies

No warm arms to hold her and she longs for his touch
The gentle kiss on her lips , she misses this so very much

Smiling she remembers the time they went for lunch
No Champagne could he afford- the ring was in her punch

The burger and fries they shared, a thing they liked to do
Her tears flowing free, as one landed on her shoe

She picked up the picture, the one from off the stand
And tightly held it to her breast, just like she held the man

She looked and smiled at the picture and put it to her lips
Setting the picture down said, "I'll always love you Chip!
