Everyone needs a little pick-me-up from time to time especially when times are tough! A visit to the salon or spa can give you a much needed time-out from a stressful workplace or a noisy home. There are a huge range of establishments in Manhattan and many of them offer pampering on a budget. So you can relax, safe in the knowledge that your bank balance is also being looked after.

The Euphoria Spa is a little oasis in Tribeca, which allows you to escape from the noise of NYC. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, the staff friendly and knowledgeable. A good range of services is provided, including facials, body treatments, massages, laser treatment and spray tan. Acupuncture, chakra rebalancing and private yoga classes are also available. A couple of stand-out treatments are the South Pacific Shell Massage, which involves the use of heated clam shells to really work on those tight, knotty areas and the Deep and Steamy Facial which hoovers out those pores and leaves you clean and glowing. The spa owner and aesthetician Kristen is really hands-on at Euphoria and the Medical Director Dr Schulman is also available for consultation about injectable therapies.

Euphoria Spa is located at 18 Harrison St., 2nd Floor, just north of Chambers St. between the West Side Highway and Hudson. Harrison St. is accessible from the West Side Highway. It is open as follows: Monday, 10-8; Tuesday, 1-8; Wednesday: 10-8; Thursday: 10-8; Friday, 10-8; Saturday, 10-7; Sunday, 12-7. The telephone number is (212) 925-5925 and the website address is www.euphoriaspanyc.com

Over on West 57th Street, in the heart of Midtown, you'll find another haven in the Dorit Baxter Day Spa. This spa offers a really broad range of reasonably placed treatments including various massages, scrubs and wraps, facials and manicure/pedicure. Why not try the Mud Wrap which uses mud from the legendary Dead Sea or the excellent value European Facial, which includes skin analysis, massage, steam, extraction and masque application?

Dorit Baxter's New York Day Spa is located at 45-47 West 57 Street, 3rd Floor, between 5th and 6th Avenues. The spa is open Monday to Saturday 9-8 and Sunday 10-6, the telephone number is (212) 371-4542 or Toll Free (800) 836-4542 and the website address is www.newyorkdayspa.com
