Poetry: Starving for attention

THE LITTLE DUCK IN THE BIG POND

The pond had much activity yet no one seemed to see
The little duck by waters edge, seemed frightened as could be

The little duck had lost her way, her home she could not find
She heard the sound coming from pond, others of her kind

The other ducks where having fun and never looked her way
With a loud quack, she sent a message, I too would like to play

Beside her sat frog on lily pad, he seemed lonely too
He looked at the duck, and said, "I'll be a friend to you!"

"You Don't even know me," Said the little duck, with sadness in her eyes
I'm not your breed, but yet you are so kind

All day they spent together, learning while they played
Though they were not alike, having fun anyway

The duck and frog learned lesson, by the pond that day
Sometimes a friend is found, in a most unusual way

A friend does not always look or sound the way we do
Yet when you need attention, one may come to you
