Last week I was waiting to get my daughter from school when I heard a parent on the other side of the walk way talking on his cell phone. It's not an uncommon scene and I proceeded to try to ignore what he was saying. Suddenly I heard him laugh and say, "You're going down like the twin towers." I was furious with him. I had to reason with everything in me not to go over there and smack him upside the head. How insensitive, arrogant and rude. I am still mad that he thought that phrase was funny, and okay to use. I realized that he was just repeating the same sentiment our nation felt.

I'd heard that Martin Luther King Jr said once that we were a ten day nation. That whatever we went through in ten days we'd forget about it. As much as I wanted to argue with that statement at the time he was right. We are a nation that has become so desensitized to everything immoral and evil in the world that we do. We forget what really happened and within a week to ten days we're following in the same numb patterns like we were before the event.

America I am pleading with you. What is it going to take for us to wake up? It's certainly not a national tragedy like September 11. Because already we're accepting jokes and catch phrases about it. What is it going to take for this nation to rise up and be the nation we were called to be on the earth?

There is spiritual temperature of lukewarm that has saturated the very being of this nation. Revelation 3:16 says, "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth." I am not preaching doom and gloom on this nation. However I am saying it's time that we stop slumbering. It's time we wake up so that we don't end up as vomit on the earth.

Isaiah 60:1 says, "Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you." We must realize in this nation how blessed we are here, but we cannot allow that blessing to lull us to sleep. There is a very real evil lurking out in the world seeking to destroy freedom on the earth. We must wake up and realize that it's there. Christians we must be on our guard and pray for our nation. We cannot fall asleep. We must remember September 11, and pray that God would protect this nation from evil.

I am not trying to preach doom and gloom on the nation. But what I am trying to do is to sound the trumpet to wake people up! We cannot stand like an ostrich with our heads in the sand and pretend like September 11th didn't happen. We cannot simply ignore that we're a target in the world. But we must see it, and realize it. We must pray and be diligent at it. We must wake up.
