When it comes to life it's almost as if we never have any time for ourselves. We're either too busy with school or with work to take a personal day. We don't have to take personal days to make our lives a little bit more balanced. Although personal days from work or school are preferred, we can't always get them. That's why it's better to learn to do simple things that can balance your day even during the workdays.
One of the first things we have to learn is to make time for people. The more connected we are to our loved ones the better we feel. So even though it may look like we can't call our parents or our friends that day because of our schedule, whenever you have a free time go ahead and give them a ring. They'll be happy to hear from you! More likely than not, you'll be happy to hear from them too, and you'll find yourself feeling just a little bit better after the call. Don't worry if the call doesn't last as long as you hoped. Two to five minutes is fair, especially if you're having a cramped day.
The second thing we have to learn is to find a time for ourselves. Concentrating too much on work can be stressful, and not only can it damage your social life but it can damage your body both mentally and physically. Find a time for yourself to just sit, relax and think. This time for yourself can be in between work hours or lunch. In doing so, you're bringing yourself back down to reality. Not only are you focusing on yourself, but you're focusing on your life. You might even become mindful of things you haven't been mindful about in a long time. This can work positively if it's something productive you've always wanted to try.
The third thing we have to learn is to become more mindful. Drowning yourself in work can be easy if you have a busy job, but once you're done for the day your mind will start feeling droned and sucked dry. Be mindful of your surroundings during work and after work. Also, be mindful of your social life. Is someone's birthday coming up? If so, what could you get them? If your anniversary on its way? etc. If you're more mindful, then you'll remember things and you won't become disconnected from your friends and loved ones. Being mindful and remembering specific events in your social life can keep your social life and your work life balanced.
The last thing we have to learn is to love ourselves. If you love yourself you become more confident in your everyday affairs and the more love you have, the more positivity you bring to the table. This positivity can transfer itself to both work and to your social life. Your boss will see that you are more energetic and eager to work, and your friends and family members will see that you're happy and want to converse with them.
It's easy to get mixed up with stress and work and other social anxieties people might face. If you take the time to balance yourself, even if it's just for a few minutes, you'll find yourself feeling not only happier but refreshed everyday.
