I was raised in a Wiccan household. Although my mother was the only "practicing" until we were old enough to know, I remember the first of many rituals we preformed when I was in 4th grade. From then on I considered our family Wiccan.
At school I was tormented with the thought that I did not attend church as the others did and my family were outsiders, gypsies if you will.. I moved around a lot-adding to the already strange adolescence I was enduring.
As I got older I realized that I was unique and struggled to stay that way. At the same time I also realized all the "crap" that comes along with religion, and I am not so sure that any one in particular suites anything I wish to believe..
There are things about every religion that do not sit well with me. My husband is in the military and he has always possessed non-belief views which are not welcomed by his job which is highly Christian driven despite what they say.
I see Gods name before every war-like circumstance which leads me to believe that there is nothing good that can come from the money driven culture they lie and destroy another's culture merely because they can. This is what we have become. I see people that in the name of any higher power will terrorize, kill, rape, and torture all because of a message from a higher power.
I strongly believe that no matter what religion you practice under you know that there are good things and things you just do not do. Killing to any level for any reason in the name of a God does not sit with me well.
I think our country is on a fast track to a massive destruction.
As a young adult and raising my son I come to a deep personal issue with what to present to him as beliefs. I do understand that it is a personal decision but I am stuck with to wait until he is old enough to decide on his own or as he grows introduce him to the many religons I know of. Our nation is one of a lost belief. Any belief is better than nothing.
