To my dearest friend
I wanted to give you something special
a gift you would treasure through the years
a memento of the time we've spent together
sharing in each others happiness and tears
It's not brand new, it doesn't even come close
in fact it's showing signs of wear and tear
but I think you'll find they add to it's character
it just wouldn't be the same without them there
It comes to you well wrapped and sealed in this package
to protect it from any bumps along the way
because it is delicate and fragile
and has been broken a few times in its day
So before you untie the ribbon
understand this gift is precious and rare
you see I'm giving you my heart
all I ask is that you handle it with care
