Mother Nature and mankind's stupidity will always regulate Earth's population. Whenever the world begins to get too crowded, Mother Nature has always caused earthquakes, plagues, floods, severe weather, droughts and other natural disasters to wipe out large numbers of humans. And once in a multi-eon or so, she directs a comet to hit Earth and wipe out virtually all forms of life when some species, such as the dinosaurs, get a bit too big and too numerous.
Mankind's ability to control population came along late in the long history of Earth's evolution, about 100 years ago, but he's making up for it as quickly as he can. During the past century, through war, forced starvation, genocide, religious fanaticism and, of course, nuclear weapons, mankind has proceeded on his stumbling way to limit population growth. And, probably in a few short years, in his infinite stupidity, mankind will solve the problem by eliminating not only population growth, but total population existence.
