Growing up in todays world, it is safe to say that each and every one of us realize that mistakes happen. Sometimes that mistake can never be fixed; but sometimes it can. When a sixteen year old girl becomes pregnant, the first thing she does is try to decide what she's going to do to fix her problem. Will getting an abortion fix it? Will killing an unborn baby and stripping away that babies right to live and love fix this problem? The answer is no. It will never fix the problem; it will only increase it. This is why adoption should NEVER be considered a selfish thing; it's something to be proud of and to be praised for.

Teenage pregnancy is becoming more and more common and unfortunately, so is abortion. The media sends out so many messages to young pregnant females that can drastically change their outlook on life. They're made out to be irresponsible, filthy and shameful. When this happens, that young girl will do the only thing she can think of to make that problem go away; abortion. Why does this EVER have to happen when there are THOUSANDS of families out there who would love to bring that little girl or little boy into their home? Making the decision to adopt is something that we should praise young girls for and they should never be criticized for their decision.

Yes, it's easy to see how adoption can be considered selfish. Many people believe that we should all live up to our responsibilities; not throw them off on someone else. However, we need look at the bigger picture; and that is the unborn child's welfare. Would it be right to allow that child to grow up in a home where she never has a meal on the table? Where her mother is never home because she has to work three jobs to support her family? That is NEVER okay and that is NEVER "right". This will only lead to more teenage girls growing up lonely and with no sense of morals or responsibility. It's a never ending pattern that we have the chance to stop today. Instead of holding on to our pride, we should adopt those children into a home where they'll have TWO loving parents who are fully equipped to take care of them and handle any crisis or situation that might head their way. That child will grow up loved and cherished and will know the meaning of sex and how important it is to wait all because she had the right parents to raise her.

Adoption should never be considered a selfish act. ABORTION is selfish act and we as a nation should try everything in our power to make pregnant teens aware of that. To take the hard way out and give birth to a baby that you created is taking responsibility for your actions. Making sure your baby has a loving family is taking responsibility for your actions. Adoption is selfless; not selfish.
