Travel experiences: Best road-trip tales

Best Mother and Daughter Vacation

In the summer of 1999, my daughter and I took a road trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We stayed at the Days Inn Motel at North Myrtle Beach on our "vaca.". The motel is located across the road from a small airport that we were told celebrities used so they could stay low key from the media.

To begin with, there was a pool out front of the Days Inn Motel, and my then 20 year old daughter and I put our suits on and got into the pool to relax, play, and have fun. I was just chillin' in the water, hanging onto the side, and I noticed a few guys standing outside the door of the motel room, a couple of 'em smoking wacky tobacky I think from the smell in the air. I told my daughter that I bet those guys were a band because they just looked like stereotypical rock band guys! They had that look in manner, dress, and the hairdos.too. I just had this intuitive feeling that somehow, later, I was gonna wish I knew who they were right now so I could pay more attention to them.

Incidentally, my daughter got out of the pool and walked across the parking lot to go to our room, which was the third one over from these guys. They stared a hole through her and I felt uneasy. Hey, I am safety minded because life has taught me to do so. I did not like it at all. We were far from home and anything could have happened out there in this crazy world. So I got out of the pool and they stared at me just like they had her and when I got up real close, they were friendly and said hello to me, so I did the same and entered my room, thoughts of them leaving as I shut the door behind me.

Next, we got ready for our night out on the town. The House Of Blues was our choice because the band "Fuel " was going to perform. I liked them and thought it would be awesome if we got to see this band. I planned to brag and get photos to show off at work because my boss loved Fuel! Ha! So we went to the House Of Blues at Myrtle Beach and let me say that it was the best time we have ever had on vacation and the best concert we have ever heard, and we both have been to a lot of music concerts.

By the way, we had no clue that Buckcherry would be there playing, but they were there. My daughter and I about freaked when Buckcherry came out and I screamed, "Oh my gosh! It is those guys from our Days Inn motel!" Low and behold, we kept looking at each one on stage and it was them! She said she was gonna go down in the mosh pit and look up close. She had always wanted to crowd surf,
