Searching for truth in the Bible

Finding truth in the bible is about as easy as finding a Catholic Priest who can be trusted with your kids; needle in a haystack. Firstly, the context in the bible is purely metaphorical. The bible was not written directly by The Lord's disciples, and in addition to this, the bible has been revised and rewritten a staggering amount of times. Thus, searching for truth in the bible should be the last thing on society's to do list; first, one must understand where the bible came from, and how it came to be.

Biblical stories must be viewed as a metaphor, if they aren't, I fear that mankind has become illogical. If your neighbor told you that he holds conversations with his dog, there's a fat chance you'd believe he was crazy...yet to the majority of people the idea of a talking snake telling a woman to eat an apple is completely rational.

As is a ram randomly appearing in the bushes as a sacrifice for Abraham to use instead of his son Isaac (Who God supposedly tells Abraham to use as sacrifice.) Behold! The magic ram! Now kill it so we can move onto our story about the man getting swallowed by a whale and making it out alive, and this guy who killed a GIANT with a rock!

These stories aren't necessarily true; it is more likely that they're built to give a deeper meaning, a more enhanced definition about what ones relationship with God should be like. A literal interpretation of the bible aims and misses at a truer, more spiritual translation of the text.

"The disciples of Jesus wrote the New Testament in Greek and though we do not have the original documents, we do have around 6,000 copies of the Greek manuscripts that were made very close to the time of the originals."

The bible was not written by direct disciples of the Lord; it was, instead, pieced together from other recordings thirty to sixty years after Jesus' death. Gospels, autographs, translations, and manuscripts were all bonded together by a man, and not just any man, but by Constantine, who happens to have been a pagan.

This explains the choosing of the 25th of December to be the Lord's birthday (the same birthday as the Greek hero and Roman army god, Mithras.) and many other striking similarities of the biblical Jesus to ancient Gods, (resurrection, the naming of the lamb, being born from a virgin, etc.) It's important to remember that the bible has also been rewritten 10-20 times since the dating of its original.

The bible is truly a very philosophical piece of literature consisting of both metaphor and of history, but to take it to be true in a literal view would be like overseeing the major message in Alice in Wonderland, Star Wars, or Animal Farm. To oversee something to extraordinary would be a pity. Only you can decide what is true and what is not, take it as your personal conquest to find the truth to the root of your faith, to the root of that feeling that overcomes your soul; which can present only wonder and amazement.
