Don't pity me, or cry for me...
and certainly, do not humor me!
I could have you feel sorry for me
as I figure out my life,
fighting off a heaviness within my heart...
but I would rather have you
be patient with me, and not pity me...
as I climb out of the abyss
to a "place", mentally,
where I could smile again!
If you 'enable' me, I will get negative attention,
and feel nothing but hopelessness....
and even I, in my state of despair,
know that that is not good for me...
so...don't pity me,
just be a friend, merely 'be there'...
quietly!

never stooping to pick up
after

the very ones who shot me down;
making sure when I was happy,
somehow you caused a frown.
Don't
I am an old man, whithered and bent
My youth and vigor are all spent
You may think it's sad, don't
