Poetry: Locked out your heart

by M.R.

Created on: April 07, 2009   Last Updated: April 10, 2009

You promised me the keys

And I believed

I left my home and all that I've known

I left forever, connected now only by phone

Gave up all that I had and all that I made

For the fleeting hope that has now begun to fade

You've grown distant, cold and then colder

I must flee now before we grow older

Before the children and the home and the bills

Tie us to each other and the love lost kills . . .
