Poetry: Locked out your heart

by Marie Herron

Created on: April 06, 2009

I once thought you were simple

So easily understood

Easy to embrace

Submerge myself into

Yet also so deep

Full of depth never ending

I fell into you, I admit

I fell deep

Soon seemed it, you emerged

Who'd have known

When did it become so shallow to you?

What did I do?

Tell me, did I hurt you?

No

Negative

It was you who hurt I

And eyes like faucet

Let me cry

Said it was over

Broke my heart over your knee

You didn't even stay to watch it bleed

Deserted...

That was me

Yet, embraced

In my place, was she

Who didn't deserve

Didn't serve you like I

Yet not a single night was she left to cry

I pondered, why?

Still, strong was I

Refused to die

I had my will power...

My inner drive

A womans virtue is her pride

Her strife

The elements that give her life

Lesson learned

So, I lit your fire

Then I got burned

Scorched, torched, scold

And that heat ignites my soul

You cant' make bitter,

Can't make me cold.

It's my heart you no longer hold.
