Let Sleeping Dogs Lie
.
Is it worth a try?
No shoulder to cry on here,
Better hold my peace.
Let sleeping dogs lie.
Better hold my peace.
No shoulder to cry on here.
Is it worth a try?
.
Cross the bridge of trust.
We have shared our secret dreams,
Covenanted hearts.
Let sleeping dogs lie.
Covenanted hearts.
We have shared our secret dreams,
Cross the bridge of trust.
.
I thought we were friends.
Every confidence locked safe.
I have been betrayed.
Let sleeping dogs lie.
I have been betrayed.
Every confidence locked safe.
I thought we were friends.
.
Never burned again.
Each entreaty I'll ignore.
Look the other way.
Let sleeping dogs lie.
Look the other way.
Each entreaty I'll ignore.
Never burned again.
.
Author's Note: This poem is written in a tightly constructed structure of strict syllabic stanzas, including a repetition woven within each one. Sometimes creativity may be found within a specific format, as many experimental poets may discover.

Here's my shoulder to cry on when in need
Tuck yourself safely underneath my wing
Lean on me and I'll try to understand
