Ways to drive traffic to your website.

If you put up your website and let it sit, it will do just that: sit. In order to drive traffic to your website you need to continually update your information and freshen it. Otherwise, why should someone come back? If you visited a website last week and thought it was great, how many times would you go back to see the same material? You may go twice more. If on your first return you find that the website is the same, you may give it one more try. After visiting a second time and it hasn't changed, you would probably assume that there won't be new information posted. By leaving a website in a stagnant state, you will lose repeat traffic. Here are some ways to drive traffic to your website.

1. Update your website frequently. If you are going to leave the traditional pages of your website the same, add a blog to it so that you can have a page that keeps up with current news for your business or topic on the web. That way, visitors to your website will find new information when they go.

2. Write a 400 to 600 word article at least three times a week or more and post them on your blog. At times you can substitute a picture or important news from another site, but write original content a couple times per week to go on it. Make sure the information in your articles is pertinent to your site and provides the visitors with information they will find helpful. Hire a freelance editor to look over your articles. This information is representing your website, so you want it to look good.

3. Learn about search engines and write your articles to ensure that the search engines pick up the key words in them. Repeat key words or phrases a couple of times during the first paragraph, again in the middle of the article and at the end. When people search for those key words your site will have a better chance of coming up in the search. Therefore, people will find you through the search.

4. Make your website or blog interesting by making it interactive. Offer surveys or a contest occasionally to your readers. If you are having trouble convincing visitors to leave comments on your website, give away the chance for a prize for each comment they leave.

5. Finally, another way to drive traffic to your website is through social media sites such as facebook, etc. By posting a page on facebook or some other social media site, you can include your website address on that page and people will click on the address of your website out of curiosity.

6. Twitter.com is another way to increase the traffic to your website. Set up a page on twitter.com and put out a short announcement each day or a couple of times per day. That will increase your traffic as well.

In order to increase the traffic to your website, it's important to spend a little time each day in activities that will do just that. Assign yourself one of the tasks listed above each day and you'll soon see an increase in the traffic to your website.
