Mommy
I used to beg you for a hug
but you didn't have the time,
You'd shoo at me to go away
like it was such a crime.
So I would go out in the yard
and bring a writhing snake,
Hysterically you'd fuss at me
I got what I could take.
You love me, yes I know you do
though it was hard to show,
Why your little girl was hard to hug
I'll never know.
Mommy, can I have a hug?
oh, you have so much to do,
Later on will be a frog
some worms and a bug or two.
So now the years have come and gone
together we are gray,
Mommy, can I have a hug,
before your dying day?

"This May Not Be Anthologized, But..."
I guess these silly rhymes of mine
Are the art of my invention
Do I write them for posterity?
Nah,

Mommy
I used to beg you for a hug

My hair brittle.
My nails splitting.
Now they know I am alive.

This pit in my stomach, will not subside
hankering for something, to feed this pride
A plate of you, or a big bowl of my invention
by Olivia Kay
People pass by as if I'm invisible,
Not a kind word, not even a glance in my direction,
Racing by, too busy to notice, too
