Don't pity me my sweet child
As I lie here, an old man, near to death.
I am so grateful that you sit by my side,
Holding my hand.
My body is shutting down,
The pain has already gone away.
Don't pity me beautiful angel
For my being an unbeliever,
For my having no God,
For my being unsaved.
I've lived a fruitful life as I saw fit.
I have no regrets,
I have no fear of hell,
I have no desire for heaven.
Don't pity me my daughter
As I feel my mind and world dissolving, collapsing inward.
When I shut my eyes it will be for the last time.
My life has been well lived,
In a few moments I will cease to exist.
Don't pity me my precious baby,
It is you who will weep.
It is you who will mourn.
It is you who will miss the kinship and love we shared
As father and daughter.
It is you that I pity.

Poetry: Don't pity me
by Jane Allyson
I drew the flash of temper,
I am the one to blame.
I made the heart grow heavy,
I caused the eyes to flame.
I was weak and
Don't pity me because my hair is gray:
years took its toll, causing my back to sway,
roads were rocky and hills hard to climb,
nights
Don't pity me
the woman whispered
even though I die alone,
for I have lived a full life,
never stooping to pick up
after
Don't pity me all you people,
the very ones who shot me down;
making sure when I was happy,
somehow you caused a frown.
Don't
I am an old man, whithered and bent
My youth and vigor are all spent
You may think it's sad, don't
