Without a doubt get rid of it. People generally have a stereotype of what it means to partake in role-playing games. Add that to the world of horrible on-line dating stories across the globe and it's a recipe for shutting down a portion of potential love interests. Could you imagine your possible soul mate not finding you because the poor thing thinks you're going to show up on a first date dressed like Bugs Bunny? Clearly the business of finding love on-line is a numbers game. Don't chop off a portion of people just because they haven't been exposed to that world.
If someone didn't gravitate towards your profile because role-playing games turned them off that doesn't mean that they are not open-minded. You are not roping anyone in with a bait and switch by leaving out this information on your profile. It might even make for an interesting topic for discussion on a third or fourth date. This will give you a chance to explain what it is and what it means to you. This topic could be really great for conversation. Give him or her the chance to have dialogue about it with you and then based on the reaction you can really get to know the person. They might show you how open-minded they are with great questions. They might show you how lame they are with stupid comments. Either way it's a win-win for you because you are thrusting them into an opportunity to get real with you.
People don't always have to share the same hobbies but wouldn't it be great to introduce someone to a passion of yours and have them jump on board with it. Maybe it's something you both can use as a tool to grow together. A person sometimes doesn't know what they are searching for. Give him or her the opportunity to learn something new about him or herself.
Maybe he or she will hate it. It can be an ongoing joke with both of you. To be happy in a relationship you don't need to share every interest. What a great way to recharge who you are by having a hobby that is not necessarily shared by your partner. Again, either way it's a win-win for you.
I'm not saying you should hide it but a person who doesn't know anything about this world might fill in the blanks him or herself. People are turned off by what they don't understand so you might be shutting down a possible connection with someone over a hobby and hobbies don't define who you are. Wouldn't it be a better idea to give yourself a chance to let your personality win someone over?
