Poetry: Being overwhelmed

by Timothy Edward Jones

Created on: April 06, 2009

Ambition

Let's hurt each other

On the Merry-Go-Round Love

Painted with kisses and lies.

Let's move to a town

We have never been

And run for Mayor.

We can sit with friends

We have never met

And make up stories about

The Good Old Days.

Let's open a drug store

And hang a sign

In the window that says:

"Just Say No."

Surely we could Dodge a cold Draft

When a Blue Norther comes to call.

And then maybe

We can just be ourselves.
