Pity? Whats pity when envy sets in?
Its just a word passed between apes,
Wide grins swallowing the poor
A couple of pennies, maybe a dime
Nothing more, no thoughts
Bitterness? Am I old now?
What's bitterness when all is lost
Yet nothing is earned?
Money is nothing and pleasure is fleeting
Smiling up at the sky from the grave
Am I shackled to this pit?
By my own will?
Possibly.
More likely the blame lies with the fates
Don't pity me, pity god
Pity the monster who showed me happiness
So that I could know of its absence
Envy me
Then perhaps this hunger will die
And I
