Poetry: Don't pity me

by Karyn B Jules

Created on: April 06, 2009   Last Updated: May 13, 2011

If I am lost and wandering
aimlessly through life
don't pity me,
offer me direction

If I am tired, aching, had enough
of being just somebody's wife
don't pity me,
offer me support

If I have squandered my last penny
on drugs and alcohol
don't pity me,
offer me advice

If I am in a rut, depressed
struggling to score a goal
don't pity me,
offer me your friendship

And most of all
don't pity me
if I have given up
on life itself,
offer me hope

I have no use for your pity
