While there are people making money while they sleep, there are those that lose money as soon as they hit the bed. The former is the very likely scenario you will encounter should you be considering sleeping at a highly priced Manhattan hotel.
However, the outcome does not necessarily have to be so drastic. Truth is, if you do some homework before booking the first hotel you find, you may ultimately be able to sleep soundly in your hotel room versus awakening from a nightmarish vision of your wallet emptying as minutes tick by.
Of course, saving money on your nightly stay will not have to translate into sleeping in a dirty half star hotel or a backpacker hostel in one of Manhattan's worst neighborhoods. Fortunately, there are some pretty decent hotels offering reasonable rates.
